ABOUT RAJGIR
Rajgir is an ancient city in the northeast Indian state of Bihar. Surrounded by hills, it's known for its holy sites. Remains of the Cyclopean Wall, which encircled the city centuries ago, still stand in the center.
Close by, Venu Vana park was once home to a monastery built for Buddha. The shield-shaped Japanese Temple contains a huge Buddha statue. Nearby there are hot springs believed to have medicinal properties.
The knowledge of Buddha was written in this place and it also serves as the place for the first Buddhist Council. It is also home to various Hindu and Jain temples. Not only this, it has water ponds which are deemed to have medicinal properties helping in the treatment of scores of skin diseases.
It has an appealing history to reveal to its visitors. Legend has it that Gautam Buddha frequently paid a visit to this place at the Jivankamaravana Monastery in a tranquil setting. And it was here at the Gridhakuta hill; Lord Buddha converted one of the pilgrims to Buddhism. In the very old time it was called by many names such as Rajgriha, Barad Rathapura, Girivraja and Vasumati.
The place is linked with the son of Brahma, Vasu who is said have created the ancient Girivraja. Moreover, it is connected with Brihadratha and Jarasandha.
1. Vishwa Shanti Stupa
Vishwa Shanti Stupa is a huge white stupa situated at a height of 400 metres on the Ratnagiri hill in Rajgir. It is made of white marble and has four shining golden Buddha statues on the corners of the Stupa. The four Buddha statues represent four important events of the life of Lord Buddha.
Also called the Gridhakuta, Vishwa Shanti Stupa is one of the most famous tourist places to visit in Rajgir that can be reached via ropeways. You can also visit a small Japanese Buddhist Temple located within the Stupa premises and the temple also has a large park. There is also a temple or pagoda where prayers for universal peace are conducted. It is also one of 80 Peace Pagodas built all around the world by Nipponzan Myohoji, a neo-Buddhist organisation.

Leading you to the top of the Ratnagiri Hill, the Rajgir Ropeway is considered to be the country’s oldest ropeway. Taking you to an altitude of around 1000 feet above the sea level, this chairlift ropeway lets you soak in the breathtaking panoramic views of charming Pant Wildlife Sanctuary and the majestic peaks of Udaygiri, Vaibhagiri, Songiri, and Vipalachal.
The ropeway is usually taken by the Jain, Hindu, and Buddhist pilgrims, who use the charlift as a medium of transport to the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, which is located at the top of the Ratnagiri Hill.

The largest amusement park in Patna city, the very popular Amaze Water World is one of the best recreational places to visit in Rajgir. Spread across an area of whooping 7 acres, this gorgeous recreational center is facilitated with a water park and an amusement park, which have exhilarating water and land rides for kids as well as adults.
The water park is equipped with main body slides, tower slides, mat slides, tube slides, a wave pool, and a water play station. The amusement park has a total of 10 amusement rides and attractions including Jumping Frog, the Columbus, the Baby train, bungee jumping, bull ride, striking car, ropeway, roller coaster, and swing chair. The park can also arrange for corporate events and private parties for its guests on special demand.

Since it is the place where Lord Mahavira took his last breath, Pawapuri is considered as one of the most significant pilgrimage centres in India among Jain followers. He was cremated at the current Jal Mandir site, which is a world-famous white marble temple set inside a wide pond. Pawapuri is a beautiful place to visit in Bihar, not just because it is considered as a holy place for Jains. There is a lot around Pawapuri that makes it a must-visit destination, ranging from the world's oldest university to age-old complexes and ancient temples to sacred ponds.
Pawapuri is best visited from October to the end of April, when the weather is cool and nice, allowing visitors to stroll around and explore the town's beauty in comfort. It is, however, a year-round destination for history buffs who come to learn about the region's past and hear its legends and fables.

Located just outside Nalanda, Kundalpur is the place which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Mahavira, the 24th and last of Jain Tirthankaras. It is also the place of birth of Gautam Swamiji who was the first disciple of Lord Mahavira.
A grand temple with beautiful spires has been built here to mark the birthplace with a four and half feet tall idol of Bhagwan Mahavira Padmasana. Within the complex, there is a serene Trikal Chaubeesi Jinmandir where there are 72 idols of Tirthankaras, representing 24 each of the past, present and the future age
An ancient Buddhist monastery was once present at Tapodharma. The Lakshmi Narayan Mandir has been built here now. There are a few hot springs found at the place and it is believed that these hot water springs have curative properties.
The Brahmakund here is a popular spring and its temperature is generally around 45 degree Celsius.
The Stupa of Sariputra contains the bones of one of the two chief disciples of Gautam Buddha. Sariputra became a celebrated Arhat after he was able to attain salvation following Buddha's footsteps.
The stupa is of a pyramidal shape and is imposing in size, surrounded by pillared structures, typical to Buddhist structures. Seven layers of construction explain its colossal size, making it a sight to behold.
